Marvel Cosmic Invasion is getting Doctor Doom-centred downloadable content this fall, Polygon reported. Developer Tribute Games and publisher Dotemu announced The Siege of Castle Doom for the retro beat-'em-up, describing paid DLC that "will find the infamous Doctor Doom central to an all-new game mode arriving alongside two new playable characters".
The announcement came by way of a news release, and the two companies are holding their cards close to their vest: neither has said who the two new characters are, or whether Doom himself will be playable in the mode built around him. A specific release date and a price were not shared either. The DLC is set for a fall 2026 release on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X.
The second add-on for a well-received brawler
The Siege of Castle Doom will be Marvel Cosmic Invasion's second DLC. A character pack earlier this summer brought Cyclops and The Thing into the side-scrolling action, joining a roster that mixes Marvel staples such as Spider-Man and Wolverine with more obscure picks like Phyla-Vell and Beta Ray Bill.
The brawler was received well on release and holds an 84 percent Critics Recommend score on OpenCritic. Polygon's Michael McWhertor wrote in his review that the game plays like the arcade titles it takes after.
Like its arcade ancestors, [Marvel Cosmic Invasion] is a simple, easy-to-pick-up, enjoyable-to-replay action game — ideally played cooperatively.
The timing puts Doom in front of players between two other appearances. He took over the world of Marvel Comics last year and did not stop there in 2026: he has led a team of fighters in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls this month, and Robert Downey Jr.'s version of the character debuts in Avengers: Doomsday in December. The Siege of Castle Doom lands between the two.
