Marvel Rivals season 10, titled Butcher's Blasphemy, launched on September 11 with Gorr the God Butcher joining the roster as a Duelist, NetEase Games confirmed in an announcement trailer and developer diary released in the days before launch.
Gorr arrives with All-Black the Necrosword, a weapon that changes form depending on the situation. Defeated enemies rise again as phantom Black Berserkers that fight alongside him, and he can cross ground by dashing and teleporting short distances. His ultimate empowers the sword and sends the active Berserkers into a coordinated attack.
Loki is off the roster
The reveal explained a change players had noticed in-game before the season began. The announcement trailer shows Gorr attacking Asgard and driving All-Black through Loki, and the roster now marks the Strategist as dead. Loki cannot be selected, a state Esports.gg and Destructoid reported before NetEase published the trailer.
One hero, not two
Season 10 breaks a pattern the game has held for eight seasons — 17 months — of shipping two new heroes at a time. Creative designer Guangyun Chen said in the dev diary that the first half of the season carries one hero and one new map, and that the second half shifts to phases three and four of the Path to Doomsday events, which will introduce two new game modes with details closer to season 10.5.
We want to reassure the community that a single-hero season isn't the new normal.
PC Gamer reported that NetEase has already decided which two heroes arrive in season 11. The balance work in the meantime is broad: lead combat director Zhiyong said the season's hero changes touch about 70 percent of the roster. The official balance post headlines a Scarlet Witch rework built around a new Scarlet Hex ability and Chaos Marks, and slows Ultimate Energy generation for the whole Strategist class.
What else landed
Season 10 adds a domination map called God Quarry, which Dot Esports reported arrives with the September 24 update alongside the return of Galacta's Gift. Pajama-themed costumes accompanied the season's launch, and Dot Esports reported that a September 18 update introduces the Jeff's Dream Eater and Jeff's Superstar Seeking cosmetic events.
Seasons in Marvel Rivals typically run about a month, with a mid-point update that moves the game to season 10.5. NetEase does not announce exact launch times in advance; Destructoid had put the expected switchover at 5am CT on September 11, preceded by two to three hours of maintenance across all platforms.
