Marvel's Spider-Man 2 adds Brand New Day and Marvel Tokon suits

Insomniac Games has released two new Spider-Man suits for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, timed to the theatrical release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and the run-up to the fighting game Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, Polygon reports. Both are available now.

The first is the Fresh Start Suit, Peter Parker's look from Brand New Day. Sony announced in June that the film's suit would be added to the 2023 game, making it the expected half of the pair. The second, a suit based on Peter's design in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, was not announced in advance. Polygon judged the Tokon suit the more visually distinctive of the two, describing the Fresh Start suit as clean but close to options already in the game.

Technical changes in the same update

The update also carries a set of smaller technical improvements. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 now supports Enhanced PSSR, Sony's upgraded machine-learning upscaler, on PlayStation 5 Pro hardware, and adds a Power Saver Mode. The game originally launched on PlayStation 5 in 2023 and is now also available on Windows PC.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day reaches theatres on July 31. The film picks up from 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home, with Tom Holland's Peter Parker living in a world where his friends and family no longer remember him or his identity as Spider-Man. Sadie Sink plays a new antagonist whose identity has been the subject of extended speculation ahead of release.

Polygon, which reported the suits' arrival, also reviewed the film, rating it the strongest of Holland's four solo outings as the character.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, the tag-team fighting game the second suit draws from, has not yet been released. The crossover follows a pattern Insomniac has used repeatedly since launch, tying free suit additions to Marvel projects outside the game rather than to in-game story content.
