Insomniac Games has released update 1.001.006 for Marvel's Wolverine, adding settings that let players switch off several of the game's on-screen and audio guidance cues.
The patch adds three new Senses toggles: one for Whisky Bottle scent trails, one for Material Crate audio clues, and one for Nightmare Door roots. IGN reports the first two drew the most criticism after launch from players who found the game’s hints intrusive. Story-critical Senses still appear in the world whatever the settings, so the trail that leads Logan to Jean in the mission The One That Got Away is unaffected. The in-game settings also note that using the Crate Finder and Whiskey Finder Adaptations overrides any toggle a player has flipped.
The scent trails, rendered on screen as a wavy blue vapour and nicknamed "fart gas" by parts of the game’s audience, had already been altered once. An update the previous week reduced their opacity without removing them, and Insomniac said at the time that it was looking into a full on/off option.
Crash and bug fixes
Alongside the toggles, the update addresses several crashes Insomniac says it identified through crash logs and community reports. It fixes an issue that left players stuck while sliding down a tree in The One That Got Away, corrects misaligned claws in Photo Mode, and resolves a rare problem in which objects could turn white after long play sessions.
The notes also list a fix for an overlapping bathroom sign in the game’s casino, which Insomniac attributes to a UV mapping issue. That sign had prompted accusations the studio used generative AI on the game’s art, which Insomniac denied.
As I have said we continue to listen and work with the team to address feedback and requests
