Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has arrived to a split reception across platforms. Console players are largely reporting a smooth experience with the 4v4 tag fighter, while PC players are running into technical problems that range from frame-time stuttering to failures that stop the game launching at all, according to Eurogamer.
The game currently holds a mixed user score on Steam, with the majority of negative reviews pointing at technical faults rather than the fighting itself. Eurogamer notes that the problems are not confined to underpowered machines: several players report issues on hardware well above the developers’ recommended specifications.
One Steam reviewer described the anti-cheat component opening into a black window and pinning the CPU, with the game eventually loading after roughly half an hour of tinkering and then running with constant micro-jitters. Others have criticised the absence of Linux support, arguing that comparable fighting games and other Sony-published titles run on the platform without issue.
SteamOS and the Steam Machine
That gap extends to SteamOS. Eurogamer reports that Marvel Tokon does run on the Steam Machine, but only through a Windows boot drive — a workaround producer Karim Jovian demonstrated publicly, rather than a supported configuration.
Why the stutter matters online
The performance complaints are not purely cosmetic. Eurogamer’s breakdown describes a game that struggles to hold a consistent 60fps, and while the individual drops are short, dropped frames feed directly into the rollback netcode, which then has to reconcile a match between two players who saw different things. In a fighting game built around precise inputs, that turns a rendering problem into a competitive one.
GameSpot published its own advisory covering the same day-one PC problems, framing them as something buyers should weigh before picking up the PC version. Neither outlet reports a fix, a patch timeline or a developer acknowledgement at the time of writing, and the console releases remain the safer option for anyone with a choice of platform.
