Of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls' five four-fighter squads, the Amazing Guardians carry the most weight in the game's single-player story: The Amazing Guardians' Episode Mode is named for them, and its first three chapters are playable in the July 24-26 open beta. The team was the second squad revealed, unveiled at the Arc World Tour 2025-2026 Finals in Korea, and all four members made the beta's 16-fighter roster.
Leading the group is your friendly-neighborhood Spider-Man
Web-slinger, space cop, teen heroes, and a mech
Spider-Man (voiced by Josh Keaton) leads the squad, joined by Ms. Marvel (Dalia Rooni) and Star-Lord (Scott Porter). Rounding out the four is Peni Parker (Risa Mei), who pilots SP//dr — the mech suit built by her father — into battle, improvising strategies on the fly with a wide range of gadgets. The PlayStation Blog's reveal paints her as a brilliant, eccentric young scientist, a Japanese-American student who occasionally slips into Japanese mid-sentence.
Their episode mode leans on the game's motion-comic storytelling, opening with Spider-Man assembling the team to confront a mysterious threat descending on Earth. The story's framing questions, per the reveal: how do these four come together, how will they face an overwhelming enemy, and can they function as a team despite their differences? The squad's home turf, Knowhere, is one of the beta's six playable stages.
The Amazing Guardians and the Unbreakable X-Men are the only two squads with complete lineups in the open beta, which runs July 24 through July 26 Pacific Time on PlayStation 5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. The rest of the 20-character roster fills out across the other four squads — the Unbreakable X-Men, the Fighting Avengers, the Knights of Doom, and the Samurai Outriders — when the four-on-four tag fighter launches Aug. 6 from Arc System Works, Sony Interactive Entertainment, and Marvel Games.
