Method have claimed the world first kill of Mythic Sszorak in The Venomous Abyss, Wowhead reported. The guild finished the encounter off stream, and neither a video of the kill nor the raid composition behind it is publicly available.
Wowhead said the team went dark before the kill, turning off its streams and disabling public access to its raid composition. How the fight was solved has not been published, and the class makeup Method used is not available to the guilds still working on the boss.
Why race teams go dark
Cutting the broadcast partway through a race is a standard tactic rather than an unusual one. Wowhead noted that Race to World First teams usually go dark close to the reset, or when they first hit a new phase on a boss that matters to the outcome. The reasoning is competitive information: a guild that hides its pulls denies rival teams the chance to learn from its progression.
Taking the kill itself without a broadcast is rarer. According to Wowhead, the last world first on a boss completed off stream was Mythic Council of Blood, taken by Liquid during Castle Nathria.
Method's other world first this tier
Sszorak is not the only boss Method have taken first in this tier's race. Wowhead's report on a subsequent round of hotfixes credited the guild with the world first kill of Vashnik the Malignant, taken with a Fire and Shadow only strategy built around that encounter's Infusion mechanics.
Blizzard has since halved Vashnik's Infusion damage amplification on Normal and Heroic difficulty, cutting each Infusion's boost to its paired Expulsion from 200 percent to 100 percent and bringing the two lower difficulties in line with the Mythic version Method cleared.
Whether the Sszorak composition surfaces later is Method's call. Wowhead's report gives no indication of when, or whether, the guild intends to release a VoD or reopen public access to the composition behind the kill.
