A limited-edition Minecraft cosmetic handed out to attendees of TwitchCon Europe in Rotterdam is generating a busy resale market, even though the official window to activate it has already closed. The Crafter Cape was never available through a normal in-game purchase or code giveaway. Getting one required showing up to the convention and working through a physical, in-person process before a redemption code was ever issued.
Earning the Cape Took Legwork
Unlike most Minecraft cosmetics, the Crafter Cape couldn't be bought or claimed online. Attendees at TwitchCon Europe had to take part in a quest built around the show floor, completing Minecraft-themed activities to earn Emerald Stickers. Once collected, those stickers were exchanged for a physical Cape Card, which held a unique code that unlocked the cosmetic through Mojang's redemption system.
A Deadline Already in the Rearview
Mojang's own redemption page set June 30, 2026 as the last day to activate codes for both the Crafter Cape and its companion item, the Builder Cape. That date has now passed, with the listed cutoff falling on July 1.
Resale Listings Keep Piling Up
That expiration hasn't stopped a resale market from forming around unredeemed Cape Cards. Creator highkeyoli tracked unsold Crafter Cape listings after the deadline and counted 119 still on the market, with a combined asking value of $49,191 if every listing sold at its "buy now" price. Individual prices ranged from $199 to $950, with many listings sitting somewhere between $300 and $699. The pricing lines up with how uncommon the cosmetic actually is. Tracking site NameMC shows just over 5,000 player profiles currently wearing the Crafter Cape, putting it among the rarer cosmetics in the game's current rotation.
Some Sales Went Through Anyway
Despite the cutoff, sales data shows at least a couple of transactions closing on July 1 — one for $350 and another for $102.50 — after the redemption deadline had technically already passed. That's fueled speculation among players that Mojang's expired codes don't always stop working the moment the listed date hits, something some players say has happened with other Minecraft promo codes in the past. Nothing confirms that's the case here, which leaves anyone buying a code after the deadline taking a chance on whether it still redeems. With no official path left to claim a Crafter Cape and its rarity established at just over 5,000 equipped profiles, unredeemed codes are still changing hands on the resale market days after the window to use them closed. Until Mojang says otherwise, anyone buying one after the deadline is essentially betting that an expired code might still redeem.
