Minecraft speedrunner Skycrab claims random seed record with 6:39.813

The run ends a three-year pursuit that came closest in June 2025, when an Enderman killed Skycrab seconds short of a projected 6:17 finish.

Minecraft speedrunner Skycrab has completed a run in 6:39.813 to claim the world record in the game's Any% Glitchless Random Seed category, according to a report by Dexerto.

The attempt took place on July 27 in Minecraft Java Edition 1.16.1. In that category, competitors begin in a freshly generated world they have never seen before and must gather resources, travel to the Nether, locate a stronghold, defeat the Ender Dragon and enter the exit portal as quickly as they can.

Skycrab's in-game time beats the previous verified record of 6:50.359, set by lowkey, by just over 10.5 seconds. That mark had held the top of the Speedrun.com leaderboard for more than a year.

A year on from the 6:17 that never counted

The record closes out one of the more painful near misses in Minecraft speedrunning. In June 2025, Skycrab reached the End on historic pace and killed the Ender Dragon at 5:59, putting the run on course to finish at roughly 6:17 — more than 40 seconds inside the world record standing at the time.

He dropped toward the exit portal with half a heart remaining. Before the portal opened and the timer could stop, an Enderman teleported behind him and killed him. Because the game was never officially completed, the attempt could not be counted, leaving Skycrab with a clip of the failure instead of a world record.

A year later there was no Enderman waiting. Skycrab entered the portal safely and celebrated immediately on realising the 6:39 run had put him top of the category.

6:39 WORLD RECORD A WHOLE YEAR AFTER THE 6:17 CHOKE. IT IS OVER. NO ENDERMAN THIS TIME.

Skycrab said he had spent more than three years chasing the record, and called the run his proudest accomplishment in the video's description.

The result is not final yet. At the time of Dexerto's report the 6:39.813 submission was still marked as pending on Speedrun.com, and lowkey's time remains displayed in first place until moderators complete their verification.
