Monsters Are Coming!, the city-defence roguelike published by Raw Fury, released on Xbox Series X|S on August 6, 2026. The developers announced the console launch on Xbox Wire alongside an update that adds a new hero, a new townhall and a competitive weekly mode.

The console version ships with the balance work and system changes the game has accumulated since its original release, so it is not the launch build. The developers described the port as a milestone for a game that has been reshaped by post-release updates and player feedback.

The Joker and the X-Fortress

The update adds a hero called The Joker, built around randomness rather than planning. Runs begin with a random weapon, and players then find Joker's Tricks in chests that either swap equipped weapons for different ones or grant random stat upgrades, pushing a build in directions the player did not choose.

A second addition, the X-Fortress townhall, pulls in the opposite direction. Buildings placed at its centre affect the whole city, and it carries four special tower slots that trigger a tower's effect three times, which makes layout planning the deciding factor rather than improvisation.

Weekly Challenges and stacking difficulty

Weekly Challenges arrive with the update. Each week brings a fixed setup with its own map, hero, townhall and modifiers, and scores are tracked separately from the global leaderboard so players compete under identical conditions. The setup rotates when the leaderboard refreshes.

Players can now also activate several Challenges at once, and those Challenges feed into the final score, so harder runs are worth more. The update adds five new ones:

  • Inflation, which raises shop prices at each Shelter
  • Small Hangar, which limits Rock storage
  • Rage, which increases the damage monsters deal to the City
  • Erosion, which makes rerolls cost a percentage of the City's health
  • Fracture, which gives buildings health and allows them to be temporarily destroyed

Difficulty now multiplies the total score instead of adding a percentage bonus, with Normal set at 1x and Nightmare at 1.5x. A new Codex, reachable from the pause and progression menus as well as from shops and level-up screens, explains keywords and system interactions during a run.

One balance change lands with the update. The Ice family's statue transformation now only applies to enemies below 30 percent of their maximum health, a restriction the developers said was needed because the effect was bypassing enemy health scaling in Endless Mode. Frostbite's contribution to the transformation chance has been increased to compensate.
