Moon Studios delays No Rest for the Wicked 1.0 to March 2027

The action RPG's full launch slips from October, with an open test in December and Founders Pack rewards extended to buyers before January 1, 2027.

Moon Studios has delayed the 1.0 launch of No Rest for the Wicked from October 2026 to March 2027. The developer confirmed the new window on September 1 in a statement posted to the game's official social media accounts and in a video from studio founder Thomas Mahler, and IGN reported that a new trailer accompanied the announcement.

The dark fantasy action RPG, from the studio behind Ori and the Will of the Wisps, entered PC early access in April 2024. GamesIndustry.biz reported that it had sold two million copies as of July 2026. A January 2026 update, Together, added co-op play.

In its statement, the studio said the extra time would go toward performance work, the class system and general polish. PCGamesN put the delay at an extra four months.

The honest truth is that we're a small team, and we're holding our games to a standard we won't compromise on. We're close, but close isn't good enough for our full 1.0 launch.

"The extra time will help us improve performance, tighten the class system, and polish the whole game to the standard you all deserve," the statement continued. "We'd rather take a few more months than ship something that we know isn't quite perfect yet." The studio said the delay also means further closed and open tests in the coming months, which it framed as a chance for players to shape the final 1.0 build.

December test and Founders Pack rewards

An open test is scheduled for December. PCGamesN reported Mahler as saying it would be the last playtest before the March launch, and that it would include new content and features already in hand, among them the class system.

Players who buy No Rest for the Wicked before January 1, 2027 are eligible for Founders Pack rewards, with IGN reporting that recent purchases have been included retroactively. PlayStation pre-orders open in January 2027, which gives players on that platform access to the same rewards.

Mahler, addressing the delay in his video, said the team had been on a "mad dash to add more content, bring all the 1.0 stuff in, add the class system, and so on," and that heavy playtesting had shown "we're not quite there yet." He said the first prototypes of the game date back to 2016, and that with the launch close the studio wanted the time to "land this plane safely" without shipping "silly little bugs." IGN quoted him opening the video with an apology.

The 1.0 release is set for PlayStation 5 and PC. IGN reported that Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S versions remain planned without a formal launch date, and that Mahler had previously attributed the longer wait on Xbox to the less powerful Series S.
