Neverwinter has opened public testing for Module 33.5, Monoliths of Madness, ahead of a release the developers are targeting for mid-September. PC players can try the update on the Mimic Shard and Lurker Shards now, according to a report by MassivelyOP.
The testing window is a short one. Tuesday, August 18 is marked as the final day for feedback, which gives players roughly two weeks on the shards before the studio closes the process and moves toward the live build.
What the monoliths do
The module takes its name from the monoliths themselves, which appear in existing zones rather than in a new area built for the update. Interacting with them offers players new missions, and completing those missions makes progress toward the Monoliths of Madness campaign.
Routing new content through old zones is a notable choice for a game of Neverwinter's age, since it gives players a reason to return to areas they may have finished years ago rather than confining the module to a single fresh map.
The changes under test
The campaign is not the only thing on the shards. The developers have also asked for feedback on a set of systems changes shipping alongside it, and those are the items most likely to be adjusted before release based on what testers report.
- An increase to item stack sizes, raised from 99 to 999
- The ability to equip an additional Combat Enhancement
- Several upcoming rewards and items available to try in testing
A full preview of the module is available for players who want to read through the changes before logging in to the test shards. With the feedback deadline set for August 18 and the release targeted for mid-September, the gap between the two leaves the studio a matter of weeks to act on what testers send back.
