Nintendo has published financial results for April through June 2026, the first quarter of its fiscal 2027, and the report contains no dedicated sales figure for Star Fox, the Switch 2 remake of Star Fox 64 released in June. According to GameSpot, the results describe the game only as having "performed steadily" — the same wording applied to Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
GameSpot notes that Star Fox does not appear among the titles Nintendo lists in its accompanying financial data as having sold at least one million copies, which indicates the remake has not yet reached that threshold. Nintendo did not provide a narrower figure in its place.
The quarter is a narrow window for the game. Star Fox launched in June, so the reporting period covers roughly six days of sales, a caveat GameSpot raises in its coverage. The outlet also argues the launch would be expected to be front-loaded, and points out that nothing prevented Nintendo from noting a sales milestone reached in the weeks after the quarter closed, as it has done for other releases.
A franchise push without a headline number
The silence follows an unusual stretch of visibility for a series that had been dormant for around a decade. Fox McCloud featured prominently in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which GameSpot reports took more than $1 billion worldwide at the box office. The Star Fox remake then arrived in June as a Switch 2 exclusive, giving the franchise a film role and a new release inside the same year.
GameSpot characterises "performed steadily" as an unremarkable result after that level of promotion, particularly given the decision to give Fox screen time in the Mario film sequel rather than another Nintendo character.
Switch 2 owners can try the on-rails shooter before buying it: Nintendo has made a free demo available. Whether Star Fox crosses the million mark in the current quarter will not be clear until Nintendo publishes its next set of results.
