Old School RuneScape has crossed over with Meccha Chameleon, one of 2026's biggest independent releases, in the form of a free Steam Workshop map that recreates the town of Lumbridge. Jagex promoted the collaboration on July 19, according to Dexerto.
The map was built by community creators 8sat and Soup rather than by Jagex itself. It reproduces Lumbridge's low-poly look, including the castle grounds, the buildings around it, fences, the riverside and the NPCs scattered through the town.

The fit is a practical one. Meccha Chameleon asks players to paint their plain white characters to match the scenery and then hold a pose without being spotted by the opposing team, so a map dense with distinctive props and static objects gives hiders more to work with.
Its creators credited Jagex alongside Mod Frogs, Sofa, Synq and ConnorDY for helping produce the map. Its update history lists several sets of RuneScape character and item props, including a purple partyhat, a dragonfire shield and pieces of Third Age armour.
The map was first published on July 10 and received a public release update on July 15. Dexerto reported that it had already drawn close to 50,000 subscribers by the time Jagex promoted it four days after that.
How to play it
Oldschool Lumbridge is free, but it requires the base game. Players need to own Meccha Chameleon on Steam, subscribe to the map on the Steam Workshop, and let Steam download the 122MB file, restarting the game if it was already running.
From there the map is selected in a server lobby's map settings. Everyone joining the lobby needs the map as well; Meccha Chameleon can prompt players to download a missing Workshop map, but subscribing in advance avoids loading problems mid-session.
