Once Human will add an ocean region, player-built ships and crossplay in its Isles of Abyss update, which releases on Thursday, October 22, developer Starry Studio announced. The NetEase studio describes Isles of Abyss as the survival shooter's largest free update since the game launched in 2024, MassivelyOP reported on September 21.
According to Starry Studio, the new ocean is itself an awakening living entity called the Sunken Lord. It is divided into five sea regions, which the studio says contain traps and threats including living islands and predatory lighthouses.
Players will cross the ocean in vessels they craft, customize and upgrade themselves, ranging from small skiffs to large warships. The update also adds island exploration and underwater diving for treasure and resources.
Isles of Abyss also launches crossplay between PC, console and mobile players. Starry Studio released a trailer for the update alongside the announcement.
