Blizzard Entertainment released Overwatch's Season 4 midseason update on September 8 at 11 a.m. PT, Esports.gg reported. The update added a new mythic hero skin for Widowmaker, Overwatch World Cup 2026 bundles and the Metalcore collection, alongside a round of balance changes.

Void Dancer Widowmaker

The new skin, Void Dancer, is Widowmaker's second mythic. Her first, Spellbinder Widowmaker, was released in Overwatch 2 Season 13 in 2024, before the game dropped the "2" from its name.

At Level 1, Void Dancer comes with an ability visual effect, a new hairstyle and a navy and magenta outfit. Level 2 adds two more hairstyles, Level 3 adds white and green outfits, and Level 4 adds a sparkling skin effect. The skin also gives Widowmaker's weapon a new look in each colorway.

The base skin costs 50 Mythic Prisms, and each further customization level costs 10 Mythic Prisms. Gilded, Iridescent and Dawn aspects for the skin can be purchased once all four levels are unlocked.

Player reaction was mixed. Esports.gg reported that while some players on X praised the skin, many saw it as underwhelming next to other mythics, with one user saying it looked more in line with the Voidwalker collection. Most players on the game's subreddit also expressed disappointment, and some pointed out that heroes such as Wrecking Ball and Lucio have yet to receive a first mythic skin.

Balance changes

On the balance side, D.Mon, the newest tank hero, received an overall nerf, as did the damage hero Freja and the support hero Kiriko. Anran received a faster cast time for Vermillion Revival, and Baptiste received notable buffs to his lamp.
