Pocketpair has released Palworld version 1.0.2, a patch aimed mainly at the boss encounters that have been misbehaving since the survival game reached 1.0. PC Gamer reports the update targets two fights that had been breaking multiplayer sessions outright.
The first is the tower boss pairing Victor & Shadowbeak, which will now reappear correctly after using a teleportation attack. Before the patch, the pair could vanish permanently in multiplayer once they teleported, leaving players with an encounter they had no way to finish.
The second is Panthalus, the legendary whale Pal, which could crash the game or eject players from the session when fought on dedicated servers. Both problems were specific to shared sessions rather than solo play.
Terrain, lighting and quality-of-life changes
Beyond the boss fights, 1.0.2 addresses a bug in which entering the World Tree while another player was already in the area could make terrain display incorrectly. It also fixes lighting faults that affected downed players when a host defeated the final boss while they were waiting to respawn.
The rest of the patch covers assorted display issues, achievements that were not unlocking correctly, and soft-locks in quest dialogue. One change is an addition rather than a correction: players can now rebind the "Attack that enemy!" command, which is how Pals are directed in combat.
Palworld's 1.0 release brought in several million additional players, and the influx has surfaced stability problems that were less visible before it. Boss encounters, which put multiple players and their Pals into the same scripted fight at once, have been among the most conspicuous of them.
The update continues a run of quick post-launch fixes from Pocketpair, which has moved at a steady pace on bugs reported since 1.0 went out. Full notes for version 1.0.2 are published by the developer, and cover the smaller display and achievement corrections in more detail than the headline boss fixes.
