Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen is rebuilding its crafting stations, according to a June 27 dev diary written by developer Nephele. The changes are scheduled for the next major patch, with the studio saying the exact date will be announced later.
The team explained the rework as overdue on two fronts. When crafting was first implemented several years ago, the studio had few art assets to draw on, so the various stations ended up looking much alike. The underlying setup was also built for an earlier version of the crafting system in which each individual crafting skill had its own dedicated station. That structure no longer matches the current approach, which organizes crafting into professions that each cover multiple skills.
The visual pass makes most stations physically larger, giving players more working space than a single table, and gives each one a look tied to the profession that uses it. Mouseover names remain in place for identification. The team also added visual effects to stations where appropriate, both to make them read as functional objects and to keep them visible at night.
Architecture varies by race, and the diary said that principle extends to crafting furniture. The examples shown included a human carpenter's workbench and scavenger's workbench, a human fletcher's workbench, and a human forge and smelter, alongside a halfling kitchen, brewery and alchemy laboratory.
The update is not purely cosmetic. The studio said it is also merging some stations together, so that players in professions such as tailoring and fletching no longer have to move back and forth between separate stations as often as they do now.
