Pantheon dev report flags a rewrite of core server processes

The July 31 update covers Badia de Cara, Faerthale planning, armor system testing and scalability work the team calls a large effort.

Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen key art

The Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen development team has published its weekly progress report for July 31, listing work across design and narrative, environment art, character animation and programming. The report is a status list rather than a patch, and the team attached no dates to any of the items in it.

The heaviest item sits on the programming side. The team said it is finishing final tasks before moving on to revisions to core server processes intended to improve scalability and performance. It described that work as a large effort that will take time to complete, and said it is required to enable several important gameplay-related features.

Other programming work continues on the Market system and on additional functionality supporting class abilities and mastery, which the team listed as ongoing. It also reported finishing a new system for handling the spawning of underwater creatures, along with improvements to their underwater movement. Bug investigations and fixes continue, with priority given to bugs affecting the mastery system or server performance.

Zones, NPCs and armor

Design and narrative work covered continued development of the Unified NPC system, bug fixing for the overworld and Badia de Cara, NPC work within Badia de Cara, and organising the list of NPC placements for upcoming zones.

Worldbuilding and environment art focused on polishing the visuals of Badia de Cara's environments and creating a batch of tree and cliff rock assets for the forests of Faerthale. The team is also optimising collisions and performance for the Port of Rulun and Detihuana, and continuing to plan Faerthale's zone and its sub-regions.

On character art and animation, the team listed revisions and polish to sprinting animations, technical testing for the updated armor system, and finalised elven player and NPC customisation for subgroups, specifically the female elf type. A Faerthale NPC asset was revised alongside the detailed planning for the city and its regions.
