Visionary Realms began a class-by-class walkthrough of the changes bound for Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen's Combat and Progression Update in a March 27 progress update, starting with the Warrior. The studio said every adventuring class is being revisited for the update, and that the work goes beyond bolting on the new Mastery system: the team is also reviewing the skills each class uses, its base ability kit and its distinctive class mechanic.
The stated aim is to get each class functionally complete, with its full intended kit available from level 1 through level 50. The team said much of each class will still feel familiar, but that the pass is also being used to clear up long-standing problems that have made content balancing and coherent itemization difficult.
Tanks are going first. The Warrior post is the first of three, with the Paladin and Dire Lord scheduled for the following week.
What the Warrior looks like after the pass
The studio listed the Warrior's primary role as tank, under the Bastion label, with physical damage as a secondary role under the Warlord label. The class remains open to Human, Dwarf, Elf, Halfling, Ogre, Dark Myr, Skar and Archai characters, can use all simple and martial weapons with some exotic weapons gated behind high skill levels, and can equip every shield type. Armor tops out at light plate by default, with heavy plate reachable through Bastion Mastery.
Battle Points remain the Warrior's combat resource and pay for both offensive and defensive abilities. The team said Warriors build them through attacks, combat abilities and certain passive effects, some of which are unlocked via Mastery. Weapon skills continue to govern which weapons a character can wield, hit chance and damage contribution, and now feed into how many weapon techniques a player can learn; at the highest tiers a weapon skill can open up an exotic variant or other benefits. Combat skills work similarly, shaping how well class abilities perform and potentially unlocking further abilities or Mastery selections.
Mastery has been narrowed to two branches. The team described Bastion as a heavily armored defender that holds a line through positioning and battlefield command, and Warlord as a front-line attacker who converts weapon skill into sustained offense. The studio summarized the Warrior's overall direction as more weapon and combat skills with a bigger effect on performance, a fuller base kit reaching level 50, Mastery choices that push either the defensive or the offensive side, and unique abilities unlocked through those choices.
Visionary Realms attached a disclaimer to the whole writeup, describing it as a high-level conceptual overview. Level requirements, skill requirements and ability effects are all expected to move during testing, and the team said it wants feedback once the public test realm is available.
Elsewhere on the project
The same post ran through the week's work across the studio. Design and narrative staff finished Mastery for the three tank classes and began the same work for Cleric, Druid and Shaman, alongside a first pass at NPC tuning for unified NPC templates and a first pass at Combat and Progression itemization. Environment artists continued set dressing for the Mawnok villages and undersea biomes and finalized the layout of the Port of Rulun, while character artists wrapped modeling and texturing for Qha-Ladahn and started on the Hydryn. Programmers kept working on combat formula changes, the persistence layer and the Mastery interface, and were finishing the mail system's interface and database hookup.
