Pantheon Mail System Detailed: 10 Recipients, Fees, 5 Attachments

Visionary Realms outlined Pantheon's incoming mail system, including per-message fees, attachment limits and restrictions on who players can write to.

Visionary Realms published an overview of the mail system coming to Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen on April 17, describing the feature as close to ready for testing. The studio acknowledged the system has little to do with combat despite shipping as part of the Combat and Progression update, arguing that it makes trading loot and shuffling crafting materials between a player's own characters easier.

The team attached a caveat to the screenshots in the post, saying the interface shown is a work in progress and may look different by the time players reach it in game.

Two ways in

Players can open a mail panel from the game menu at any time, but that route is limited to reading and sending text. Attaching or collecting items and coin requires visiting a Mail Courier NPC or a Mail Kiosk, which the studio said are usually placed in cities, towns and villages.

The mail window itself separates received and sent messages into tabs and stores up to 50 received messages, after which a player has to clear space before more will arrive. Filter buttons narrow the view by message type, including a guild filter that isolates messages sent to a whole guild. Players can select multiple messages to delete them or export them to a file, and an opened message carries both a reply button and a report button.

Costs and limits

Messages are not free. Each carries a base cost that rises with additional recipients and rises again for attachments, scaling with how many are attached. A single message can go to up to 10 recipients and carry up to 5 items plus coin. Guild leaders and officers can mail an entire guild for a flat fee.

The studio illustrated the pricing with a test-environment example in which a message to two recipients cost a single silver coin, and said mail fees will be tuned once players start using the system.

Who a player can write to is deliberately restricted. Valid recipients are limited to people on the sender's friends list, members of the sender's guild and the sender's own characters. The team said the restrictions are an anti-abuse measure that should at least stop casual spam, while noting they cannot prevent every misuse, which is why the report button exists. The recipient selection interface is still being refined.

Beyond player-to-player trading, the studio listed several jobs for the system: moving items securely between a player's own characters, delivering purchases made through the Market, and sending out items from the studio itself for account rewards or any other case where it needs to hand players something in game. It framed asynchronous trading as the core benefit, letting players exchange items when the other person is offline or too far away to meet.

Mail will be testable when the Public Test Realm opens and will ship as part of the full Combat and Progression update. The team said it is putting the system in front of players early specifically to surface bugs, and asked testers to send heavily once the test realm is live.
