Visionary Realms has given its first substantial account of how Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen has fared since launch, saying in a February 20, 2025 update that the MMORPG has sold close to 100,000 copies and holds a Very Positive rating on Steam since entering Early Access in December 2024. The studio called the launch a success and said it has been pleased with the reception.
The update is candid about the adjustment involved. The studio described the shift from serving a small pledge-backed community to running a live service as a difficult transition with its own growing pains, and said its support staff have been working inside the game — helping players, filing bug reports, watching servers and resolving technical problems as they surface. The team said it has sustained thousands of concurrent players every day since Early Access opened.
Unity 6 upgrade went live in February
The most significant technical change of the period was an engine move. The studio said it began work on upgrading to Unity 6 early in the year and switched it on for players on February 6, since which point the team has been working through the problems that follow any major engine change. The studio positioned the upgrade as groundwork for later improvements rather than an end in itself, saying it gives the team more to work with ahead of release.
The clearest player-facing effect so far is in dungeons. The studio said ambience and lighting have changed noticeably in those spaces, producing a more dramatic feel as players work through them.
Staffing also moved in February. The team said it restarted a pair of paused contracts to address content needs, bringing back David "Roenick" Schlow and JN Gerhart, and added Andy Raven to the studio in a game design role reporting to creative director Chris "Joppa" Perkins.
What the team is building next
The studio listed several workstreams underway toward the 1.0 launch:
- The Druid, described as the next class due in Terminus and scheduled to arrive in the coming weeks
- Special ruleset servers offering a raw PvP experience
- New content in Silent Plains, specifically Wildblood camps and the Ashbreather dungeon
- Quest and dialog work in Wild's End aimed at making the area more appealing to low-level players
- Class kits extended so the remaining classes are filled out through level 40
On release rhythm, the studio said it is currently running a weekly update cadence, with the caveat that some weeks will bring data-only patches with no visible change in the game world. The team said the weekly slot is as much about backend work and server restarts as new content, giving it a regular window to ship things once they are ready. Patch notes will accompany updates where applicable.
