Pantheon's Badia de Cara zone enters environment build, due this spring

Visionary Realms said the Bay of Faces zone is partway through environment construction and still on track for a spring release.

Visionary Realms used a January 16 progress update to walk players through the current state of Badia de Cara, the next major zone planned for Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen. The studio, which translates the zone's name as Bay of Faces, said it remains scheduled to arrive this spring.

The team framed the post around where the zone sits in its production pipeline. Building a zone from nothing runs through several stages: planning its lore and layout, producing art assets, constructing the environment itself, and finally layering in game data such as where NPCs spawn. Most of the work so far has gone into the earlier planning and art stages, the studio said, and it chose to share images now because environment construction is partway along. Every screenshot released with the post is work in progress, and the team noted the areas shown are neither visually finished nor yet populated with NPCs.

Kosa Ull

The largest island in Badia de Cara, and one of the zone's main destinations, is Kosa Ull. Obsidian rock is a defining feature of the landscape, but the studio said the current pass is adding trees, ground cover, hanging vines and canopy, with the intent of covering most of the island in dense jungle by the time it is finished. Creatures the team called Mawnok patrol its shores.

The Groaning Deep

Alongside the islands breaking the surface, the zone will include several underwater points of interest. One of them, the Groaning Deep, was shown at an early stage: the images represent a first terrain pass covering base geometry and large rock formations, with a second pass planned in a few weeks to add kelp, coral and smaller detail. The studio also published concept art of a sea creature and said not everything below the waterline will be friendly.

Each area inside the zone's borders is being given its own history, lore and inhabitants, according to the team, which described both diving for lost treasures and pushing inland through jungle as intended activities. Considerable work remains, the studio said, much of it in filling the zone with things worth finding. Badia de Cara is currently planned to launch in spring alongside the Combat and Progression Update.
