Pantheon’s July 17 log: Enchanter mastery work and Faerthale concepts

The weekly development update covers finishing touches for Ranger mastery, a terrain-texture performance investigation and finalized elven dwelling concepts.

Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen key art

The Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen team published its weekly development log on July 17, reporting that bug fixing continued through the week alongside a set of new additions across design, art and programming.

On the design and narrative side, the team completed a final pass on NPC population for Detihauna and added a few new fish to the waters around Badia de Cara to increase the zone’s biodiversity. Work continued on implementing Enchanter mastery, with finishing touches applied to Ranger mastery. The week also covered additional tuning and itemization for levels 1 to 40, plus continued bug fixing and tuning adjustments.

World and character art

Environment work focused on lighting and atmospheric touch-ups for various parts of Badia de Cara, and on investigating a terrain-texture issue the team said was causing poor visual performance in some parts of the world. Object collision optimization continued across all of Badia de Cara and the Port of Rulun, while artists worked on large environmental props for the areas of Faerthale outside the city. The team also finalized concepts for an elven dwelling kit that will be used to build many of Faerthale’s structures.

Character artists handled touch-ups and optimization on some Badia de Cara creatures and their animations, and finalized the import process for the updated armor system. Detailed concepts and blockouts continued for Lucent, Ashen and Ember elf customization options, including hairstyles and hair colors, and the team kept building out a Faerthale NPC asset list to inform asset creation.

Programming

Programmers landed more water-related fixes for Badia de Cara and made further preparations for hooking up boats. They also built a new tool designers can use to quickly populate large open areas of the world with NPCs.

The largest item remains the planned revisions to core server processes, intended to improve scalability and performance. The team repeated that this is a large effort likely to take several months, but one required to enable several important gameplay-related features. Alongside it, programmers worked on data connections for the Market system UI, enabled additional functionality to support class abilities and mastery, and continued bug investigations and fixes.
