Atlus and Nintendo used the September 9 Nintendo Direct to confirm Nintendo Switch 2 versions of two Persona games, Polygon reported. Persona 4 Revival, the remake of Atlus' 2008 role-playing game, was confirmed for the console, as was Persona 6, the next mainline entry in the series. The Persona 4 Revival confirmation arrives with the remake's launch on other platforms approaching.
The Switch 2 release of Persona 4 Revival is dated May 20, 2027. That places it roughly three months after the game's February 18 launch on all other platforms. Polygon noted that the gap is narrower than the one Persona 3 Reload faced, which reached Switch 2 more than a year and a half after its initial release.
What Persona 4 Revival changes
Persona 4 Revival is a remake of the original 2008 game, which follows a group of students in the Japanese countryside investigating a series of murders and rumours of a mysterious Midnight Channel broadcast on television. The remake adds a graphical overhaul and gameplay improvements, but Atlus has said it is sticking as closely as possible to the original story and character arcs, adding nuance only where it makes sense. Polygon pointed to the character Yosuke, whose story has drawn criticism for its handling of gender and sexuality, as one such case.
What Atlus has shown of Persona 6
The Direct shared little concrete information about Persona 6 beyond the platform confirmation. The game was officially revealed in July with a teaser trailer showing a graveyard of headstones with a headless statue at its centre. Polygon cautioned that the teaser is not necessarily a guide to the finished game, pointing to Persona 5, whose own reveal trailer had almost nothing to do with the game Atlus eventually shipped.
Atlus has released no further details on Persona 6 since that reveal. The protagonist and the setting have not been shown, and no release window has been announced for any platform.
