Postal 2 Redux confirmed for Q1 2027 on PC, PS4, PS5 and VR after one-day Kickstarter

Running With Scissors is rebuilding its 2003 shooter in Unity 6 with Flat2VR, Team Beef and Impact Reality, with Champ the dog returning alongside overhauled NPCs, combat and physics.

Postal 2 Redux, a complete rebuild of the 2003 first-person shooter in Unity 6, has been confirmed for release in the first quarter of 2027 on PC, PS4, PS5 and VR platforms, IGN reports. The project's Kickstarter campaign reached its funding goal in a single day.

Original developer Running With Scissors is building Redux alongside Flat2VR, Team Beef and Impact Reality. The game returns to the fictional town of Paradise, Arizona, and to the Postal Dude, the everyman who only wants to get his errands done before his day goes sideways and he is pulled into the series' usual shenanigans.

Postal 2 Redux is a sandbox in the truest sense: players decide how each day unfolds, playing their way from mild-mannered to mayhem, in a living, reactive world where no two playthroughs are ever the same.
Jasmine Uniza, CEO and co-founder, Impact Reality

Champ, the Postal Dude's canine companion and a long-running fan favourite, returns with him. Uniza said the dog is "now upgraded with new ways to interact: pet him, bring him along, weaponize him, and more," expanding on a companion that was largely decorative in the original release.

Running With Scissors says the move to Unity 6 carries a set of technical improvements with it. Textures, lighting, materials and shaders have all been upgraded, and level streaming has been given a boost that should make moving around Paradise smoother. NPCs are being overhauled so they behave more intelligently and react better to both the player and the world around them, combat is being rebalanced, and a new physics system has been implemented.

The 2027 date puts Redux on shelves roughly 24 years after the original, which arrived as one of the most contentious releases of its era and drew a 5.5 out of 10 from IGN in 2003. The remake's platform list means the flat and VR versions are being targeted together rather than the VR build following later, with Flat2VR and Team Beef handling that side of the rebuild alongside Running With Scissors and Impact Reality.
