Rainbow Six Siege Season 3 adds defender Noor and a drone racing mode

Operation Split Fire launches September 1 with a 3v3 arcade mode, ranked 3.0 changes and a targeted update to Villa.

Ubisoft has set out the contents of Rainbow Six Siege Year 11 Season 3, Operation Split Fire, which begins on September 1. Creative director Joshua Mills presented the season from the stage of the ongoing Esports World Cup grand final, PCGamesN reports.

The season adds one operator: Noor, an Egyptian defender built to counter shield operators and break up attacker momentum. Her Horus Lance deploys five projectiles that pierce shields and other destructible surfaces before emitting a jet of flame to either side where there is room, and it works through floors and ceilings.

Operator and weapon changes

Kali is the largest of the balance passes. Her CSRX scopes drop from 5x and 12x to 3.5x and 8x, the delay between shots is reduced, total ammunition goes up, and she can use her V-Lance while continuing to aim down sight. Dokkaebi trades her EMP grenades for breach charges; her Jegeo hack can now be interrupted by Mute jammers, and her tablet must stay active for the full upload, which gives Solis a way to track it.

Lion, Echo and Kapkan are all buffed. The EE-One-D gives defenders less warning that they are being scanned, the Yokai drone recharges its Sonic Burst faster, and Entry Denial Devices deal more damage than last season. Ubisoft is also adjusting the AR-15.50, MK14 EBR and SMG-12.

Ranked, arcade and maps

Ranked 3.0 keeps its five placement matches but widens the swings around them. A win awards 30 RP rather than 25, most players take a soft reset of 300 RP at launch, and top Champions are placed into Emerald 3. Emerald players can no longer bring Platinum or Gold squadmates into Champion lobbies. A solo-queue Legend division opens midway through the season for players who are Champion in Season 3 and reached at least Platinum in Season 2, and it is the first league to run on Rainbow Six Shield Guard, an Ubisoft platform that uses Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 for anti-cheat.

Wasteland Circuit, a drone racing event, runs from September 23 to October 13 across three courses.

The first one is all fast and furious, the second one is close and personal with gadgets, and the third one is a beautiful display of the map while we test your skills.
Mathieu Lacombe, associate game director

A 3v3 arcade mode follows the 1v1 mode and runs between September 8 and September 22. It uses attrition settings, so winning a round locks out all three of the operators the winning side used for the rest of the match. Ubisoft is also starting a programme of targeted map updates, described as smaller changes that open new strategies without altering a map identity, beginning with Villa; Stadium Alpha, Stadium Bravo and House continue the modernisation pass, and the tutorial zones and shooting range get a graphical update.

Operator Mastery, a per-operator progression system previously announced for this season, has been moved to Season 4. The test server opens on August 17, ahead of the September 1 launch.
