RF Online Next has a major content update in the works, headlined by a large-scale cross-server mode called Core World. Netmarble’s cross-platform mecha MMO relaunched roughly two months ago, and MassivelyOP reports that the drop is currently undated.
How Core World works
Core World is a PvPvE mode aimed at high-level players, and it is built to run at a scale the game has not attempted before. Netmarble describes it as running every other week and matching up to 450 players drawn from multiple servers, who compete to defeat a world boss named Krator.
Reaching the boss is a prerequisite rather than a formality. Before confronting Krator, each team must first defeat the Krator Guardian protecting its starting formation. Scoring is then settled across the whole event rather than by a single kill.
The server that earns the highest overall contribution across all battlefields will be declared the winner and receive special buffs that provide advantages in both combat and hunting.
That structure makes the reward a server-wide one, which gives players on the same shard a shared stake in the outcome rather than an individual placing to chase.
The rest of the update
Core World arrives alongside the tenth chapter of the game’s storyline, which takes players into the frozen zone of Severia across a series of quests. The update also adds a Material Conversion system that lets players stake unused gear for a chance at higher-tier goods, and a legendary MAU called Tempest built around long-range combat.
Netmarble has not given a release date for any of it, and has not said whether the pieces will arrive together or in stages. For a game two months past its relaunch, the size of the package is the notable part — a new endgame mode, a story chapter, an equipment sink and a new unit in a single drop, aimed squarely at the players who have already reached the top of the progression curve.
