Riot Games has disabled the Valorant agent Waylay across all queues after a bug involving her Refract ability, the studio said on July 31. Dexerto and Dot Esports both reported the removal, which Dot Esports said covers Competitive, Unrated, Swiftplay and custom games.
We're aware of a bug that's causing Waylay to see incorrect visual information after using her Refract ability. Due to the implications on competitive integrity, we are disabling Waylay until we deploy a fix. We'll send out an update when the fix is live.
Refract is Waylay's repositioning tool, dashing her back to a light beacon while invulnerable. Dot Esports reported that the bug triggers after the ability is activated and makes her vision unreliable, which in a tactical shooter can leave a player peeking or repositioning on information no one else has.
No timeline for her return
Riot has not given a date. Dot Esports reported there was no ETA at the time of writing and that Waylay could return in a future patch or hotfix. Dexerto reported that some players found they could still use her in modes that do not use abilities, such as team deathmatch, while others were locked out in Ranked. Dot Esports reported that the current act, Season 2026 Act 4, ends Aug. 19.
The third agent pulled this year
Dexerto reported that Neon was temporarily removed in May after her Fast Lane ability gave some players a wallhack, and that Cypher was pulled at the end of the same month when his spycam could fire weapons. Both were returned to the game after fixes.
Waylay has drawn other corrections recently. A bug that let her clip into walls on Icebox after using Lightspeed and Refract was addressed in the 13.02 patch, Dexerto reported, though players say she can still get under the map. Dexerto also reported that console players found extra dash speed in late May by switching to flex mid-ability.
