Owlcat Games has delayed Processional of the Damned, the story-concluding expansion for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, from September to December 2026. The studio announced the change in an update posted to Steam, Rock Paper Shotgun reported.
Despite our best efforts to deliver the expansion by September as originally intended, it has become clear to us that it won't be ready in time. That's why, to ensure we deliver the experience players deserve, we have decided to delay the launch. The release window will be set to December 2026 and is not expected to move any further.
Refunds for Season Pass 2
Owlcat is offering refunds on Season Pass 2 through Steam customer support. The studio warned that taking one removes both Processional of the Damned and the Infinite Museion from the account, and breaks saved games made with Infinite Museion content active. Players who want to carry on with an existing save after a refund would need to buy Infinite Museion separately.
The Appearance Pack bundled into Season Pass 2 will be made free and folded into the base game for everyone, Owlcat said, so it will not affect saves. The studio added that the change reaches platforms other than Steam slightly later.
What the expansion adds
In a separate post, Owlcat set out what Processional of the Damned contains. It centres on a new companion named Stella, described in her official biography as a Miraculist raised by the Ecclesiarchy as a living weapon, and as an unsanctioned psyker whose order regards her not as a witch but as a miracle sent by the Emperor. Her eyes bleed when she becomes a conduit of that will, the biography says.
Players choose whether to develop Stella and her Psychic Trail ability into a weapon or to try to save her, Rock Paper Shotgun reported. PC Gamer said the expansion also introduces a Zealot archetype built around melee bludgeoning, a new madness feature affecting every companion, and new enemies and gear, and that Processional's storyline is woven into the existing campaign rather than placed after it.
PC Gamer noted that the expansion closes a three-year run of Rogue Trader downloadable content, and that Owlcat's next Warhammer role-playing game, Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy, has no release date beyond a stated coming soon.
