RuneScape: Dragonwilds leaves early access with its 1.0 launch on consoles

Jagex's survival RPG is out on PS5, Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and PC after a year and a half in early access.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds has left early access. Jagex released the survival RPG in its full 1.0 form on September 15, a year and a half after the game debuted in early access, MassivelyOP reported.

With the release, the game arrived on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S, alongside PC through the Epic Games Store, the Jagex Launcher and Steam. Jagex thanked the millions of players who joined during early access and described the release as the start of the game's next chapter.

A launch-day patch accompanied the 1.0 release. Its primary purpose was bringing the game to the new console platforms and adding crossplay, according to MassivelyOP, but it also added a round of new content and changes:

  • The Scorned Wilderness, a new region
  • Kuldra the God-Eater, a new endgame boss
  • Several new enemy types and additional gear
  • The wand weapon type, which Jagex described as a more mobile, faster-paced way to deal damage at a comparatively lower damage output
  • A home teleport spell
  • Significant changes to the building system, plus bug fixes
This is not the end of RuneScape Dragonwilds. A new chapter begins with this release, and the start of an ambitious, multi-year journey into Ashenfall and its secrets.

Jagex said the next content update, Luminance, is planned for this winter and will include a new building kit among other additions. The studio also indicated that changes to combat are planned, without detailing what they will involve.
