Santa Monica Studio is developing another God of War game starring Kratos, series game director Cory Barlog confirmed on Friday during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con.
Barlog said the next Kratos game will be released after God of War Laufey, which is now officially set for 2027, according to a report from the panel by IGN that Polygon cited. Polygon reported that the new game will tie directly into Laufey's story.
Little else about the project has been detailed. The panel produced no title, no platform list and no release window beyond its position after Laufey in the release order, and Santa Monica Studio has not described how far development has progressed.
What the confirmation does settle is that Kratos remains part of the studio's plans past God of War Laufey, the entry PlayStation has now dated. Barlog's remarks place the character in a game that follows it rather than concluding with it.
