Skate tests 150-player block parties through August 10

Full Circle's first open-world meet-up event spawns twice an hour across three locations during the weekend test.

Full Circle is running block parties in Skate between August 7 and August 10, a large-scale open-world event that gathers up to 150 players in one part of the map at a time. MassivelyOP reports the test is the first of the "meet up" activities the studio outlined in a mid-season blog post last month.

The events spawn at 15 and 45 minutes past each hour and rotate through three locations. Rounds are objective-based, carry live leaderboards, and support drop-in play — there is no party to join and no flag to interact with first. Players who arrive late are not locked out of scoring, because point multipliers engage near the end of each round.

What the rounds pay out

Rewards sit on the objectives rather than on the rounds themselves. Completing related objectives grants tix, the game's currency, while placing in a round does not pay out directly. Some objectives can be completed without winning outright, which Full Circle frames as a balance between casual participation and competition.

A technical test first

The studio is explicit that this is a stress test. Gathering 150 players into a shared slice of an open world is a different load profile from the game's ordinary sessions, and the developers have warned that bugs and server issues are likely across the weekend. The stated goals are managing events at scale and encouraging more social play.

The structure the studio has chosen is what makes that a real test. Two spawns an hour across a four-day window gives players a predictable schedule to turn up to, and the three-location rotation moves the crowd around the map rather than parking 150 players in one district for the duration. Drop-in play removes the queue that would otherwise stagger arrivals, so the server load can arrive all at once.

Skate remains in early access, a state MassivelyOP has argued sits closer to a soft launch than a conventional test period. Block parties are the kind of feature that reads as a live-service addition rather than a pre-release trial, and their performance this weekend is what determines whether they become a fixture.
