Slay the Spire 2 has added 15 new cards built specifically for co-operative multiplayer, Rock Paper Shotgun reports. The cards span all five of the roguelite deckbuilder's classes and are live on the game's Steam beta branch.
The set breaks down as one new colourless card, two for Regent and three apiece for the other four classes. Several existing cards have also been reworked, and enemy Block scaling has been reduced for two-player multiplayer.
What each class gets
- Ironclad: Midnight, a rare attack dealing 99 damage — 120 upgraded — for 12 energy, reduced by one for every card Exhausted during the battle by any player; Blaze, which gives another player 5 or 7 Strength; and Outrage, a zero-energy card dealing 9 or 13 damage that also copies itself into every other player's discard pile.
- Silent: Blade Symphony, which puts 2 or 3 shivs into every other player's hand; Concoct, which lets another player's attacks inflict poison; and Fade, a retainable card granting another player 6 or 9 Dexterity. Concoct and Fade apply only for the current turn.
- Regent: Plot, which lets all players draw 2 or 3 extra cards on the following turn; and Constellation, which gives another player energy, a card and 9 or 12 Block.
- Necrobinder: Underworld, an Exhaustible card applying Doom in proportion to the attack damage other players deal in a turn; Soulbound, which adds a Soul to an ally's draw pile whenever you create a Soul card; and Cacophany, dealing 66 or 99 damage to a random enemy for every 33 cards drawn across the party.
- Defect: Hibernate, which channels Frost into Block for allied players; One For All, adding 3 or 4 damage to every player's zero-energy attack cards; and Imitation Learning, an exhaustible card that plays copies of a target player's next two power cards, or three when upgraded.
- Colourless: The Ball, which bounces to a random ally's pile each time it is played and increases its own damage by 15 or 25 for the rest of the combat.
Four existing cards changed alongside the additions. Tank now leaves its caster taking 50 percent additional damage rather than double, in exchange for allies taking 50 percent less. Silent's Flanking moves from Uncommon to Rare, Defect's Ignition drops to Uncommon, and Necrobinder's Legion of Bone is no longer an Exhaustible card.
Solo changes and mod saves
The patch also carries balance changes for solo players, bug fixes and UI adjustments. Its other notable addition is a save-migration step: the first time a player installs a mod, the game can copy an unmodded save across to the modded profile.
That copy runs in one direction only. Rock Paper Shotgun notes the two saves remain stored separately, so progress made after mods are enabled does not carry back to the unmodded file. The beta update is due to reach the main Steam branch "soon", with no date given.
