Sony announced a Marvel's Wolverine console bundle on the PlayStation Blog on August 11, giving a first look at the PS5 Digital Edition Marvel's Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition Bundle. The package contains a PS5 Digital Edition console, a matching DualSense wireless controller and a game code for Marvel's Wolverine, and Sony says it will be available globally.
The design takes its cues from the Battle Reborn suit and claws seen in Insomniac Games' version of the character. The console carries a yellow finish with claw marks cut across it, exposing part of the hardware beneath, and the controller is marked with slashes in the same style. Sony is also selling the DualSense Wireless Controller Marvel's Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition on its own.
Designed with comic artist Jock
Sony says the design was produced in collaboration with Insomniac Games, Marvel Games and the Scottish graphic artist Jock, who contributed to the key art for Marvel's Wolverine and whose comics work informed the look of the hardware. The company describes the brief as capturing the character's primal energy in a console finish, and credits Jock's hand-drawn line work as the starting point for the claw marks that run across both the console and the controller.
I still draw all my artwork traditionally, so the opportunity to marry cutting-edge hardware with the energy and looseness of hand-drawn ink is incredibly exciting.
The announcement follows a run of Marvel's Wolverine reveals last month, when Insomniac Games and Marvel Games shared new details about the game at San Diego Comic-Con.
No price or date yet
Sony's post is presented as a first look rather than a full commercial announcement, and it does not state a price for either the bundle or the standalone controller, nor a date on which either goes on sale. The post was published to the PlayStation Blog's Southeast Asia edition, though Sony describes the bundle itself as a global release rather than a regional one.
