Splatoon Raiders patch 1.1.1 simplifies the Tank Limiter

Nintendo drops the hold-to-confirm input that players kept reporting as a bug, and fixes five other issues.

Nintendo has released version 1.1.1 for Splatoon Raiders, a small patch whose headline change is not a bug fix at all but a control tweak — one aimed at an option players had been reporting as broken.

The Tank Limiter is a cap on the game’s Skill Points system that stops players pouring points into a single trait, such as health or weapon power, too early. Once enough points have been spent across several categories, players can release the limiter and raise the cap. Video Games Chronicle reports that releasing it required holding the A button down, in a game where nearly every other menu option is confirmed with a single press.

The result was a steady stream of reports that the option did not work. VGC notes that Nintendo’s Japanese customer support account had to post publicly telling players to hold the button rather than tap it. Version 1.1.1 removes the ambiguity: the limiter now releases on a normal A press.

The rest of the patch notes

  • Releasing a tank’s limiter no longer requires holding down the A button.
  • Fixed an issue where the feature that hides elements such as the Showstopper Gauge after a period of inactivity in the Hideout Ship or dungeons was not working as intended.
  • Fixed an issue where the Emergency Damage Up effect was not applied to explosion damage added by the Splatchet’s Explosive Steps.
  • Fixed an issue where players occasionally could not move after using a Splatchet immediately following a Squid Roll from a wall.
  • Fixed an issue in Soyu Cliffs where a Fish Stick could move into the terrain and become impossible to defeat.

It is the second patch the game has received. Polygon notes that Splatoon Raiders launched on July 23 to critical acclaim after a day-before v1.1.0 patch that adjusted audio and gameplay features, and that the issues surfacing in the two weeks since have been minor by comparison.
