Nintendo added Star Fox Adventures to its GameCube – Nintendo Classics library on Switch 2 on September 9, after announcing the release during that day's Nintendo Direct. The game is available to subscribers of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, according to reports from GameSpot, IGN and Video Games Chronicle.
Developed by Rare and first released in 2002, Star Fox Adventures moved the series away from its vehicle-based dogfighting toward Zelda-like action-adventure play. Fox McCloud steps out of the Arwing to explore Dinosaur Planet on foot alongside his companion Tricky, fighting enemies with a staff and solving environmental puzzles. GameSpot noted that the project began life as Dinosaur Planet for the Nintendo 64 before Shigeru Miyamoto proposed turning it into a Star Fox game, and that it was Rare's last game for Nintendo before Microsoft acquired the studio.
The game also introduced Krystal, a blue fox who later became the first female pilot in the Star Fox series. GameSpot called Adventures a particularly divisive entry in the franchise, while IGN said it has become something of a cult favorite in the years since its release.
Its addition brings the number of GameCube games available on Switch 2 to 11, VGC reported. The full list is:

Nintendo has also announced that Pokémon Colosseum is coming to the library but has not confirmed its release date. The Expansion Pack add-on, which is required to play GameCube games on Switch 2 as well as Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance and Sega Mega Drive/Genesis titles, costs $49.99, £34.99 or €39.99 per year.
