Riot Games is bringing the four-versus-four format in Teamfight Tactics back through the Tactician's Superbrawl, an official tournament running from Nov. 6 to Nov. 8. It is open to players in the Americas (AMER), Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and Asia-Pacific (APAC).
The event carries qualification stakes: all four players on a winning team can earn a spot in the Set 19 Tactician's Trials. Riot says the Superbrawl also extends Tactician's Trials by about three weeks, giving players something to chase during the late-season ladder.
Why Riot is putting 4v4 on the calendar
Riot points to player feedback that the Tactician's Trials season ends too early, and says bringing 4v4 into official competition acknowledges a community that has been running the format itself.
It's also a format the community has been playing on its own for a long time. Bringing 4v4 into official competition recognizes that, and it adds a competitive space that works differently from anything else on the calendar. You pick your teammates, you represent your region, and you build something together in this new format.
Format and qualification
Each region fields 96 teams in a single-elimination, best-of-three bracket. Competitors qualify either through the ladder snapshot on Nov. 2 at 12 p.m. PT or by winning a Sub-Regional 4v4 Qualifier. Every team has a captain, a spot earned by finishing at the top of their server's snapshot, and that captain then drafts three teammates from an eligible pool. Players from the TFT Pro Circuit can be drafted, but no more than two per roster.
Set 18 TPC players may be drafted onto teams, with a maximum of two per roster, but they can't qualify for Set 19 Trials through this event.
