Riot Games released Teamfight Tactics patch 17.9 on August 10, the last dedicated update for the Space Gods set before Set 18, Enchanted Wilds, takes over. Esports.gg published the full notes.
The patch buffs Gwen, Lulu, Maokai, Rhaast and Tahm Kench, and makes adjustments to Twisted Fate, Milio, Meepsie and Zed. The largest single change is to the Shepherd trait, which gains power across several of its numbers at once.
Shepherd gets the headline buff
Shepherd's mana requirement drops from 50 to 40, its summon's tail sweep damage rises from 200/230/275 to 200/300/400 ability power, and the Shepherd 7 wave damage goes from 220 to 300 ability power. Two numbers move the other way: the AP granted per cast falls from 15 to 10, and the summon's shield lasts three seconds instead of four.
Giving some love to the Shepherd so the summon can feel more impactful, casting more often, scaling more throughout the fight, and have a powerful Shepherd (7) damage impact.
Twisted Fate reworked around its gamble
Twisted Fate's rework sharpens the swing on his card. He now always grants gold when a nine is rolled, regardless of star level, but takes 15 percent of his maximum health as true damage when a one comes up. His minimum damage is cut sharply, from 200/305/460/800 AP to 30/45/70/120, while his maximum rises from 450/675/1015/1725 to 680/1020/1550/2650.
Elsewhere, Milio gains a 40 percent chance to cast a second time at another target, which can itself bounce onward, with his primary and bounce damage reduced to compensate. Meepsie changes role from magic tank to magic fighter, losing base attack damage and gaining attack speed and a lower mana cost.
Space Gods does not disappear when Enchanted Wilds goes live. Esports.gg notes the set remains playable for a limited period alongside the new one, and that some units carry over changed: Gnar becomes a Brawler and Morgana a Conduit, both able to draw on Set 18's traits.
