The Blood of Dawnwalker has sold more than 1 million copies, Rebel Wolves announced on September 5 through the game's official social media accounts. IGN reported that the developer and publisher Bandai Namco announced the milestone together.
Reports differ slightly on how quickly the game got there. IGN said the milestone came 48 hours after the game launched on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on September 3. Eurogamer and PC Gamer both put it at three days, with PC Gamer giving the launch date as September 2.

The game is the first major release from Rebel Wolves, a Warsaw-based studio founded in 2022 and led by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, who directed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and co-directed Cyberpunk 2077, IGN reported. It is also a new IP: an open-world dark fantasy action RPG set in 14th-century Europe, in which players control Coen, whom the official description calls "human by day and vampire by night." His story plays out over a 30-day in-game period.
Launch numbers and changes
Eurogamer reported that the game reached 70,692 concurrent players on Steam over its launch weekend. It also reported that Rebel Wolves confirmed a Performance Mode for consoles at launch, after an earlier look at the console version had shown no 60fps mode on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S and players pushed back.
PC Gamer reported that some of the first mods for the game remove its time limit entirely. The three outlets' own reviews scored it 9/10 at IGN, four out of five stars at Eurogamer and 83% at PC Gamer.
Rebel Wolves intends the game to begin a series. According to IGN, Tomaszkiewicz has said each installment will be a standalone entry with its own story and no narrative cliffhangers, and narrative director Jakub Szamałek has told players to watch for clues in the first game that relate to the overarching plot of the saga.
