The MongolZ sweep Wildcard to reach BLAST Bounty Malta finals

The Mongolian side took Dust2 and Inferno in their first series with two new signings, booking a place at the season's opening LAN.

The MongolZ have qualified for the BLAST Bounty Season 2 LAN finals in Malta, beating Wildcard 2-0 in a series that HLTV reported was the Mongolian organisation's first with two new signings in the lineup. HLTV described the team as the latest to book a ticket to Malta, where the closing stage of the event will be played.

Tikuak fronts a comfortable Dust2

Dust2 opened the series and went The MongolZ's way early. The team pulled out to a 6-1 lead built on the back of a force-buy win on the CT side, with Zolbayar "tikuak" Chimedtseren the central figure in that stretch through a run of holds on the A site that denied Wildcard any rhythm.

Wildcard answered late in the half and kept the map within reach, then won and converted their CT pistol round to level the score. That parity did not survive long. Once The MongolZ had full buys in hand they pulled clear again and closed the map out with relative ease, with tikuak continuing to feature.

Inferno stays level until the closing rounds

Inferno was the tighter of the two maps and ran back and forth for most of its length. Both sides converted rounds on sub-optimal buys, and the scoreline stayed level all the way to 9-9 before The MongolZ tightened up. Coordinated crossfires in the closing stages settled the map and, with it, the series.

Where Dust2 turned on tikuak's individual output, HLTV characterised the second map as a collective effort from the roster rather than a repeat of the same pattern. It was that shift that sent the team through to the LAN portion of the first event of their season.

The result carries added weight because of the roster work behind it: the series was the first The MongolZ had played with their two new signings in place. HLTV did not detail how the incoming players performed beyond noting tikuak's showing on the opening map.

For Wildcard, the 2-0 defeat ends their run at BLAST Bounty Season 2 short of the LAN stage in Malta.
