The Thunderpick World Championship 2026 has confirmed it will immediately adopt Counter-Strike 2's updated Active Duty map pool, replacing Overpass with Cache. The move brings the tournament's map selection in line with Valve's official Active Duty change.
Map Pool Change Takes Effect at SA Series 2
The new Active Duty pool takes effect beginning with the South America Series 2, an online stage running July 8-12, 2026. Cache will make its Thunderpick World Championship debut at that event. An organizer statement confirmed the change: "With the latest Active Duty changes, Cache replaces Overpass beginning with #ThunderpickWC 2026 SA Series 2."
Tournament Progress So Far
Three stages of the Thunderpick World Championship 2026 have already been completed: EU Series 1, the NA Series, and SA Series 1. Those stages were played under the previous map pool, which included Overpass. Four stages remain on the schedule: EU Series 2, SA Series 2, a Closed Qualifier, and the main event. SA Series 2 will be the first of these remaining stages to use the updated pool featuring Cache.
Main Event Set for Malta
The Thunderpick World Championship 2026 main event is scheduled for October 12-19, 2026, in Malta. With Cache now added to the Active Duty pool, its Thunderpick World Championship debut at SA Series 2 in July will mark the first look at how the map factors into the tournament's remaining stages, including EU Series 2, the Closed Qualifier, and the October main event in Malta.
