South American Counter-Strike 2 returns to the Thunderpick World Championship stage this week as Series 2 of the 2026 South America circuit gets underway. Running July 8-12, the online event carries a $20,000 prize pool and brings together twelve organizations split between a four-team playoff field and an eight-team group stage. Four sides have bypassed the group stage entirely, earning direct playoff berths on the strength of their standing in the Global VRS rankings: BESTIA, Imperial, Bounty Hunters, and LargadosyPelados. The remaining eight teams will have to fight through group play first, with only the strongest results punching a ticket to the knockout rounds.
Group Stage Draw
Eight teams have been divided into two groups of four for the opening phase of the tournament. Group A pits Fake do Biru, Isurus, UNO MILLE, and paiN Academy against one another, while Group B features Yawara E-Sports, Keyd Stars, MIBR Academy, and Matanoia Wolves. Results from this stage will determine which sides advance to join the four directly-seeded teams in the playoffs.
A Familiar Face Starts from Scratch
Among the group stage entrants, UNO MILLE arrives with the most notable recent history. The team finished as runner-up in the previous edition, South America Series 1, but that result did not carry over into an automatic playoff spot this time around. Instead, UNO MILLE will need to work through Group A alongside Fake do Biru, Isurus, and paiN Academy to reach the next stage.
Returning Contenders Among the Seeded Four
Two of the four teams handed direct playoff qualification, Bounty Hunters and LargadosyPelados, also competed in Series 1, giving them a head start on the rest of the field heading into the new event. LargadosyPelados enters with the stronger pedigree of the pair, having reached the semifinals in the previous series. Their bye through the group stage keeps them fresh for the playoff bracket, where they'll be joined by BESTIA and Imperial, both of whom used their Global VRS ranking to secure a direct route to the later rounds.
