Toem 2 arrives September 29 on Switch, Switch 2, PC and PS5

Something We Made's photography sequel keeps the black-and-white look but trades simple polygons for more detailed 3D.

Toem 2 has a release date. Eurogamer reports that Something We Made's follow-up to its photography puzzle game arrives on 29 September 2026, launching the same day on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC and PlayStation 5.

The studio has said little else about the sequel so far. Its description points to more of what the first game traded in — quirky characters, a relaxed soundtrack, and a photographer setting off on a new journey built around noticing small details, helping the people encountered along the way, and photographing the world's minor wonders. A teaser accompanying the date announcement is brief, and Eurogamer notes it reveals little beyond the tone.

What the teaser does show is a visual change. The original combined 2D elements with simple polygonal shapes; the sequel keeps the grayscale, hand-drawn look but renders it in noticeably more detailed 3D. The black-and-white presentation, which was the first game's most recognisable feature, is intact.

Following an award-winning debut

The first Toem launched to strong reviews and went on to win Best Debut at the 18th British Academy Games Awards. Eurogamer gave it the site's Essential badge when Christian Donlan reviewed it in 2022.

Toem is an absolute dream.
Christian Donlan, Eurogamer

Donlan's review described a short journey through a grayscale, newsprint-styled world, travelling by bus from one stop to the next with a camera. Photographs taken along the way solve the small problems of the characters met at each stop, each solution earns a stamp, and enough stamps buy a ticket onward. The record of the trip is the roll of photos left behind at the end of it.

That structure is what the sequel appears to be extending rather than replacing, though Something We Made has not detailed how the second game changes it. With a launch date now fixed for the end of September, the studio has roughly seven weeks to fill in the rest.
