Ubisoft has delayed Rayman Legends Retold, its remake of the 2013 platformer Rayman Legends, from October 1 to December 3, according to Polygon and IGN. The publisher announced the change in a post on X on September 14, a little over two weeks before the game's original release date.
The development team said the game has already gone gold, but that it chose to hold the release to spend more time on it.
While the game has officially gone gold, we have decided to take extra time to make sure every detail gets the care it deserves.
The new date keeps the remake in 2026. Ubisoft also said a new overview trailer is scheduled for September 22, and Polygon reported that a new round of hands-on impressions from press and creators is set for the same day.
A reworked 2013 platformer
Rayman Legends Retold was announced earlier this summer as a reimagining of Rayman Legends, which remains the most recent console game in the series. IGN described it as the first Rayman game in 13 years, adding new content, new gameplay features and new 3D graphics to elements of the original, and Polygon reported that it adds a new final world intended to give the game a stronger finale.
Ubisoft brand manager Loïc Gounon told Polygon the team wanted to make something it could produce relatively quickly while still pleasing longtime fans and introducing new players to the franchise, and that Legends was the natural choice because of how complete a game it is. Gounon also said the project was a chance to update the original and fix some of the problems from its release.
Eurogamer reported that the remake features improved visuals with 4K60 graphics, new collectibles and rewards, and a free bundled version of Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition, and that it is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S.
According to Polygon, Rayman Legends Retold was Ubisoft's only game scheduled to launch in the coming months. IGN noted that the December date moves it away from a fall release window crowded with major launches, including Gears of War, Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto 6.
