VCT EMEA Stage 2 playoffs open with two Champions 2026 places and $250,000 at stake

The VCT 2026 EMEA Stage 2 playoffs begin on Aug. 20 and run to Aug. 30, with a $250,000 prize pool and two direct places at VALORANT Champions 2026 on the line, Esports.gg reports. The region sends three teams to Champions in total: two qualify from these playoffs and a third can still take a place from the championship-points leaderboard.

The bracket is double-elimination and best-of-three, with only the lower final and the grand final played as best-of-five. Play opens with the upper quarter-finals on Aug. 20. The upper final on Aug. 28 sends its winner to Champions, the lower final on Aug. 29 sends its winner as well, and the regional champion is crowned on Aug. 30.

Team Vitality arrive as the region’s strongest recent performer, having finished fourth at VALORANT Masters London 2026. FUT Esports placed in the top six in London after a long absence from international events, and Team Liquid, who added two players in 2026, finished in the top 10 at VALORANT Masters Santiago 2026. Karmine Corp, who signed three new players at the start of the year, topped Group B and start from the upper semi-finals; they have not reached an international VALORANT event since Madrid in 2024.

Three Challengers-tier sides made the playoff field: Enterprise Esports, Eintracht Frankfurt and Fire Flux Esports. Their route through the regular season came at the expense of established names. Fnatic, runners-up at Champions 2025, missed both Masters events this year and were knocked out in the Stage 2 play-ins by Enterprise and Joblife. GIANTX, top eight at Champions 2025, have not reached an international tournament since and did not recover after signing two players in July. Team Heretics, top six at Champions 2025 and top eight at Masters London, were eliminated by Fire Flux and Eintracht Frankfurt.

VALORANT Champions 2026 takes place in Shanghai from Sept. 24 to Oct. 18. The other regional qualifiers are staggered around EMEA’s: China decides its two qualifiers on Aug. 21 and 22 and plays its grand final on Aug. 23, the Pacific playoffs start Aug. 26, and the Americas playoffs start Aug. 28.
