Riot Games has released Valorant Patch 13.02, a small update whose only Agent change raises the cost of Phoenix's ultimate. The patch, which went live on July 28, also delays the All Random One Site: Replication game mode indefinitely and expands the map pool for Retake, according to reports from Dot Esports and Dexerto.
Phoenix pays more for Run It Back
Phoenix's Run It Back ultimate now costs seven ultimate points, up from six. Dot Esports notes that Phoenix's pick rate among Duelists has risen over recent months and that his ability to accumulate ultimate points quickly has long been one of his stronger traits. Riot framed the adjustment as a correction of frequency rather than power.
Overall we are happy with the state of Phoenix's balance. This is a small touch to address the frequency with which he is able to cast his ultimate to be more in line with other characters.
No other Agent received a balance change in the update. The remainder of the patch is bug fixes, covering more than ten Agents across PC and console — among them Omen, KAY/O, Cypher, Gekko, Reyna, Chamber, Jett, Raze, Deadlock, Vyse and Waylay — plus a fix for utility being crushed by an already-closed door on Summit.
Replication delayed, Retake expanded
All Random One Site: Replication, first teased in May ahead of Act 4, will not ship in this update. Riot has not given a replacement date. The mode combines the one-site 5v5 format of All Random One Site with the duplicate-Agent rule of Replication, in which an entire team plays the same Agent.
Riot said in the patch notes that it did not take the decision lightly, acknowledged that players had been looking forward to the mode, and said it is still targeting a future release date it will announce when there is more to share.
Retake, the practice mode introduced in Patch 13.00, gains three maps: Split, Corrode and Lotus. Dot Esports reports the additions bring the number of sites available in the mode to 18.
