Vitality have fallen to fifth in the Global Valve Regional Standings following Valve's August update, HLTV reports. It is the first time the team have sat outside the top four since the August 2024 update, a run of two years.
Valve publishes the standings monthly, and HLTV notes that a raft of tournaments are set to use this update to allocate their invitations.
The slide carries little immediate cost for Vitality. HLTV notes that the team remain comfortably inside invite range for every significant event drawing on the ranking.
What the August update decides
The update is the basis for invitations to a run of tournaments, four of them with prize pools above $1 million: FISSURE Playground 3, ESL Pro League Season 24, the Thunderpick World Championship and IEM Beijing. A number of tier-two events will also send invites off the same update, which HLTV notes could carry implications for Major qualification.
- FISSURE Playground 3 (September 7-13): 15 Global spots to the main event.
- Logitech G Play Connect (September 17-23): 10 Global spots to the main event, eight Global spots to the closed qualifier playoffs and 10 to its group stage.
- Stake Ranked Episode 4 (October 1-4): six Global spots to the main event and 10 to the closed qualifier.
- ESL Pro League Season 24 (October 3-11): 12 Global spots to the main event, 12 to the closed qualifier and four Asia spots to the Asia closed qualifier.
- Thunderpick World Championship (October 12-19): seven Global spots to the main event, 14 Europe spots to the closed qualifier, plus one North America and one South America spot.
- IEM Beijing (November 2-8): 10 Global spots to the main event with one each for North America, South America and Asia, 12 Global spots to the closed qualifier and four Asia spots to the Asia closed qualifier.
