Wardogs Season 2 will arrive on October 15, developer Bulkhead announced in a post on X on Tuesday. IGN reported the date alongside the season's first confirmed addition: weather.
WARDOGS Season 02 is coming. Stay tuned for more.
The teaser attached to that post shows heavy rainfall over a battlefield, which is as far as the studio has gone in describing what weather will mean in practice. Bulkhead has not said whether it will change how matches play — whether it affects driving or visibility, or whether it rolls in and clears during a match rather than being set for the whole of one. IGN reported that little else about the season is known yet.
Everyone starts over
Season 2 also carries a progress wipe. Unlocks and ranks reset to zero for every player, which IGN reported is intended to rebalance the game at the start of each season rather than let players who grind continuously hold a permanent advantage. The reasoning IGN set out is that without a wipe, players would eventually unlock everything, the in-game economy would lose its value, and there would be little left to play for beyond killing enemies.
Not everyone is happy about it. IGN noted that some players are annoyed at having to re-earn their unlocks just a month after the game's early access launch.
Where the game stands
Wardogs sold more than two million copies in its first weekend and remains one of the most played games on Steam, according to IGN, which described it as one of the biggest games of the year and added that current sales figures are not public.
A console version is planned but is not close. Bulkhead is targeting 2028, and chief executive Joe Brammer has said in an interview that the long runway is deliberate: there is pressure to build a console version, he said, but he does not want to overwork the team, and avoiding crunch is a large part of why the date sits where it does.
