Wardogs sets a 2028 console window as Steam Early Access begins

Bulkhead says the military shooter will reach PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in 2028, two years after its PC Early Access launch.

Wardogs has entered Steam Early Access, and developer Bulkhead has confirmed the military first-person shooter will also come to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in 2028, Polygon reports. Both console versions can already be wishlisted.

The 2028 window puts the console release two years behind the PC launch. Polygon notes that a date late in that year could land close to the next console generation, raising the prospect of the game arriving on successor hardware — a PlayStation 6, or what the outlet calls Xbox's Project Helix — rather than the platforms it has been announced for.

Bulkhead marked the Early Access launch with a trailer that Polygon describes as taking direct inspiration from "Believe", the Halo 3 advertising campaign. The studio’s tagline for the launch, "play like you used to", refers in a press release to what it calls an era when multiplayer games were social, unpredictable and impossible to put down.

The shooter reached Early Access after a run of beta windows and closed playtests. Polygon, citing SteamDB, reports that the beta peaked at 245,118 concurrent players.

Wardogs is ambitious, rough around the edges and still has a long way to go, but that is exactly what Early Access should be. We’re putting the game in players’ hands, listening to what they tell us and taking the risks needed to turn it into something that can last. More than anything, we want people to get online, talk to each other and have the kind of fun in an FPS that we grew up having.
